Marshall Thermo King is one of the latest companies to join a leading edge scheme, designed to help industry improve its safety record. With around 100 mobile engineers working across the UK on transport refrigeration and tail-lift equipment, MTK recently received accreditation from SAFEcontractor, a programme which recognises very high standards of health and safety practise amongst UK contractors.
Safecontractor is operated by international safety, health and environmental risk management specialists, the National Britannia Group. Under the scheme, businesses undergo a vetting process, which examines health and safety procedures and track record for safe practice. Accredited companies are included on a database which is accessible to registered employer organisations, who can vet potential contractors before they set foot on site.
On receiving the accreditation, Norman Highnam, Contracts Director at Marshall Thermo King commented “We maintain fleets for virtually all of the major chilled food distribution companies and around 90% of our work is carried out at customer sites. Our engineers are often working at height, with dangerous substances, on industrial equipment in difficult conditions. This scheme recognises our significant investment in safety equipment, our rigorous procedures and our comprehensive training programme.”
